Jerry Considine

Director of Trading

Mr. Considine is the director of trading for WexTrade Financial.

Mr. Considine has more than 27 years of trading experience and has managed more than $100 million in assets. He has spent his entire career in the futures industry, mastering the intricacies of trading and market dynamics through his diverse experiences gained both on the trading floor and in institutional trading rooms. Dedication and discipline are part of the philosophy that has made Mr. Considine a successful trader, and he knows how to help traders understand the psychological aspects of trading.

Shortly after starting his career as a runner on the trading floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), Mr. Considine joined Citibank’s Foreign Exchange Division as a trading assistant and was soon promoted to a bank spot FX trader. Returning to the CME in 1982, he worked with the floor operation of Drexel Burnham Lambert before he started trading his own account as an independent floor trader in the currency futures pits.

Mr. Considine’s talent and market savvy caught the attention of legendary hedge fund pioneer, Paul Tudor Jones, who hired Mr. Considine in 1990 as a proprietary trader for his entities. After three years and the establishment of a highly regarded track record and reputation, Mr. Considine left Tudor Jones to establish Considine Trading Corporation (CTC), a registered Commodity Trading Advisor. Mr. Considine built on his past success of delivering consistently profitable results by trading institutional client and proprietary funds. The methodology which has made Mr. Considine a successful trader consistently produces above average returns by capitalizing on near-term profit opportunities primarily in global foreign exchange, interest rate and stock index markets.

Mr. Considine’s trading strategies combine fundamental and technical market analysis and evaluation of sentiment and crowd psychology with money management to create a uniquely risk-adverse trading style. His trading philosophy incorporates: capital allocation to positions based on probability of profit, and risk versus reward; focus on smaller appreciation using a short-term approach and increase returns by leveraging these positions; leverage market inter-relationships to maximize profits while tempering risk; control exposure of each position using predetermined, volatility-adjusted unit sizes; and place stop-lost orders to protect profits and limit losses.

Over the years, Mr. Considine has refined his primarily discretionary trading technique by capitalizing on his experience and acumen in processing market information and managing trade entry and exit strategies. He has recently quantified certain elements of his approach in order to incorporate a systematic aspect into his methodology.
