Legislation
Effective July 1, 2001, establishes a universal newborn hearing program in the health department that encourages screening prior to hospital discharge, but no later than 3 months of age. Health department to determine reporting requirements. A task force to advise on appropriate physiologically-based screening methodologies and methods for assuring follow-up referral and audiologic assessment, evaluation, and intervention.
