Legislation
Requires hospitals offering obstetric services and alternative birthing centers to provide an auditory screening for all infants and to forward an auditory screening report to parents, the attending physician, and the Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs. Requires the Commission to review each screening report and contact parents to schedule follow-up evaluations when the screening report indicates a potential hearing loss.

First Steps
First Steps is an early intervention program that serves children from birth to age three who have a developmental delay or a medical condition that is known to cause a delay. Project STEPS (Sequenced Transition to Education in the Public Schools)
